Ingredients

  • 2 cups (480 g low fat plain Greek yogurt)
  • 1 cup (240 g applesauce)
  • 1 medium apple (diced, approximately 1 cup (180 g))
  • 1 tablespoon (10 g granola)

Method

  1. Add the Greek yogurt and applesauce to a large bowl.
  2. Stir until evenly combined or leave the ingredients slightly swirled for a layered texture.
  3. Wash the apple and cut it into small cubes. Peel the apple first if preferred.
  4. Divide the yogurt mixture between two breakfast bowls.
  5. Add the diced apple and granola.
  6. Serve immediately so the apple stays fresh and the granola remains crunchy.

Notes

Use unsweetened applesauce if you prefer more control over the sweetness.
Choose a crisp apple variety such as Pink Lady, Honeycrisp, Braeburn, Elstar, or Granny Smith.
Add the granola directly before serving. It will soften when it absorbs moisture from the yogurt and applesauce.
You can prepare the yogurt and applesauce mixture the night before. Store it covered in the refrigerator, then add the fresh apple and granola before serving.
This recipe makes two regular breakfast portions or one very large portion.
