Whole Grain Waffle Recipe

These whole grain waffles are soft, fluffy, and made with simple pantry ingredients. A wholesome breakfast that freezes and reheats beautifully.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp margarine (or vegetable oil) (softened (30 g))
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (25 g)
  • 2 large eggs (100 g)
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (130 g)
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder (2 g)
  • Pinch salt (1 g)
  • 3/4 cup milk (170 ml)

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened margarine and brown sugar until smooth.
  2. Add the eggs one at a time and mix well after each addition.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add the dry ingredients and milk alternately to the bowl, mixing until a smooth thick batter forms.
  5. Let the batter rest for 5 minutes.
  6. Preheat and lightly grease the waffle maker if needed.
  7. Pour the batter into the waffle maker according to its size.
  8. Cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp.
  9. Serve warm with your favorite toppings.
